How We Started

It started in 2003 with Tony and Mary Tay and a simple “yes” to help collect unsold bread and buns from a bakery to the Canossian Convent, and to distribute the excess after the Convent took what they needed.

It was yet another simple “yes” to collect unsold vegetables from the wholesalers. It was the countless of “yes” that they had received when they asked for help from their family and friends, to collect bread and vegetables. Without knowing it, they soon had a following of people from all walks of life to assist them.

The pivotal point that started the one hot meal revolution was when Tony and Mary said “yes” to provide an elderly gentleman with one packed home cooked meal. From then on, more people said “yes” to their call for help.

From that one hot meal, it grew and multiply to the 5000 that Willing Hearts serves today.
